A green foundation
PORTSMUT, where nature comes first
Portsmut Farm is based on eco-friendly and ‘green’ foundations, with great respect for the original environment of the farm and all of its inhabitants. The entire farm draws its power solely from solar and wind energy, producing well in excess of what is needed at the modern farm complex. Portsmut Farm is situated in the mountainous Khomas Hochland, west of the capital city Windhoek.
We employ ethical wildlife stewardship and local food systems. Portsmut prioritises animal welfare and ecological balance. The farm-to-table approach ensures that the entire process, from breeding and raising the animals to processing, occurs locally, minimising transportation emissions and supporting regional economies. This model promotes transparency and traceability, offering consumers high-quality, ethically sourced game meat while fostering sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, by engaging in habitat conservation and biodiversity preservation, our farms contribute to the health of local ecosystems, creating a harmonious relationship between agriculture and nature.
Eating Portsmut farm meals is a sensory delight. Each bite is a reminder of the effort and care that went into growing these ingredients. The flavors are brighter, the textures more varied, than anything I could buy in a store. There’s a profound connection to the food, a gratitude for the earth that provided it and the hands that tended it.
